Ahmed Akari is an internationally published photographer operating out of the Washington DC area. His work is raw and emotive, uncomfortable at times, yet beautiful. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland but spent his formative years in Palestine. In highschool, he developed his interest in photography while taking a darkroom class. He was fascinated with the ability to materialize the fleeting moment. After a 2015 publishing in the UK based lifestyle magazine, Off The Rails, Akari began exploring a career in photography. He graduated with a BA in Media Production from George Mason University. Akari was recently awarded a three year residency with the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia. His photographs explore the diversity of human conditions and environments; how people interact with their surroundings and with each other. Akari’s mission is people oriented; he hopes to uplift individuals and their communities through photography.
